Webfolio: Painting

Acrylic on calico on MDF board, 11 x 8.5 inches.

Below is the finished painting, framed.

I love painting with only black and white paint. For exactly the same reason I love rendering form with graphite pencil - It's just so much easier, only having to think about the tone, and not having to worry about hue complicating things.

Acrylic on Frisk CS-10 illustration board, 10 x 4 inches (approx).

Just a quick speedpaint - a warm-up. I used a relatively large flat brush to help keep a loose and painterly look. I like the slightly impasto effect, it makes me want to paint with a palette knife and viscous oils.

Acrylic on paper, 10 x 8 inches (approx).

This artwork is all about the stark contrast between the heavily textured, natural looking background and the simple typography/graphics.

I keep meaning to take a much better photograph of this, but never get round to it. This one will do for now, then I'll edit it at a later date. The details shots are better.

Acrylic on MDF board, A2 (16.54 x 23.39 inches).

Three quick still-life speed paintings. I tried to portray the emotions "happiness" "sadness" and "anger" with my use of colour. I don't know if that worked or not.

From left to right:
Happiness – About two hours
Sadness – About one hour 30 minutes
Anger – About one hour

Still a WIP - I've yet to paint over with 'fatter' glazes.
